If you make a change to the journal website settings and try to click Save but the system "hangs" (where the loading circle spins next to the button), try clearing your cache and cookies. Make the change and try to save again. If this doesn't work, there's a bigger issue at hand. Here is the procedure for troubleshooting:

  • Navigate to the page you are having trouble using

  • Right click anywhere on the page

  • Choose the 'Inspect' option from the right-click menu

  • Select the 'Network' tab from the pane that appears

  • Try to do whatever wasn't working before

  • Look at the results that pop up in the Network panel

  • Depending on what browser you are using, you may see a line in a different color or with a status code of 403. The correct row will probably include the word 'document'

    • If so click on that line and then 'Response' in the sub panel to the right

  • If the response shows a message that says the request was blocked by the firewall, please copy the ID number it gives and send back to us to fix the issue

Click on each of the files below to see examples of what this looks like based on the browser you're using.

Note: If you go through the troubleshooting process and there still are issues after Pitt IT tries to resolve it, there is a larger problem. Pitt IT is working constantly to make our journal operating systems as smooth as possible for our users. Staff at POLP are happy to take the actions you need, like saving an announcement or making a submission, if your computer is unable to.
