The University Library System (ULS) does not purchase or manage Public Performance Rights (PPR) for films for the purposes of public screenings.

Streaming films that are flagged with “PPR” in Kanopy and most of the titles accessed through Academic Video Online come with Public Performance Rights, as long as the audience is comprised of authorized viewers (i.e. members of the Pitt community), no admissions costs are charged to attendees, and no profit is made from the screening.

Kanopy provides search strategies for identifying only those films that come with PPR.

We can help you to identify the producer or distributor for a particular film in case you wish to inquire directly with them about the availability and cost for screening rights. If you wish to start this process, please Ask Us
