In order to view a PDF in Science Direct, it is recommended that you right click on the PDF option, choose "save target as", and save the PDF directly to your computer.

It has been found that some newer versions of Adobe Reader are not compatible with all PDF content when viewing it within a browser reader. Some of Elsevier's content is created with older PDF software because it is submitted by the authors that use this software.  Right clicking and saving is one of the only ways around this when using Adobe.  There is a free PDF reader available called Foxit Reader that works with any versions of PDF content, as well.
