Bookmarks are links in the PDF version of your ETD, that enable the reader to navigate through the document chapter by chapter. They also allow the reader to link to tables, figures, charts, etc. Bookmarks are a requirement in the ETD because they enable long documents, such as dissertations and theses, to be easily read across multiple sessions.
