Here at Pitt's  University Library System and specifically at the Archives Service Center, we indeed have resource available for genealogical research.  However, we are not the best place to help individuals start their genealogical journey.

Here in the Pittsburgh Area, the best place to learn about "How to do Genealogy" and the available resources found in the Western Pennsylvania Region is with the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society.

While WPGS is an all-volunteer organization, they have a huge network of experts and are extremely helpful.  We highly recommend that you start with them as a way to learn to develop your research skills.

We wish you great success with your journey and we hope it will be rewarding for you.
