If you have a syllabus, of course, you'll have a list of the books you'll need for a class.  Otherwise, though, here's how to generate a list.

Start at Pitt Book Center and choose Textbooks;

mouse over Textbooks and choose Purchase Books/Compare Prices from the dropdown

You should see several different dropdowns.  Start with Choose a Term and make a selection

Next, choose a department

Then enter a course number

Finally, enter the section

Once you've done that, you should see a list of all the texts and you can also go title by title and understand availability from the book center and otherwise.
